Cordas House — timber house by the water

Cordas House.

Angra dos Reis · 2024 · Residence · 645 m²

The idea

A house by the water where wood is the whole language — structure, skin and interior spoken in the same warm material.

Wood inside and out, until architecture and interior become one thing.
Cordas House — vertical timber detail
The same warm material, from structure to skin.
Cordas House — opening framed to the sea
Openings framed for the sea, and nothing else.
Cordas House — interior in wood
A room that smells of cedar and salt.
Cordas House — house in the landscape
From the water, the house reads as a single drawn line.
Process

When one material does everything, tolerance becomes the design. Working by the sea in Angra meant detailing wood for salt, sun and time — and trusting it to age into the landscape instead of against it.

Material

Wood, and the sea for contrast.
